Alan J Solomons
Director and Founder
Alan’s career began at international and top UK accounting firms, advising businesses of all sizes on takeovers, sales and strategic planning.
After founding his own practice, he has provided trusted, personal advice to a wide range of clients – from senior executives and doctors, to sole traders and businesses with turnover up to £7 million. He also advises investors with portfolios from £150,000 to several million and has a particular interest in generating retirement income in tax-efficient ways without forced investment sales.
Alan combines practical experience and a hands-on approach with close attention to tax and financial planning, helping clients navigate beyond compliance and make the most of their resources with confidence. Alan prides himself on providing a trusted personal service.
Outside of work, Alan enjoys spending time with his wife, their cat Frodo, and in their garden, while keeping up with his children’s busy lives.
His curiosity and love of discovery extend beyond the home. Over the years, he has travelled widely, from China and Thailand to the United States, Europe and South Africa on safari. He and his wife also enjoy exploring the UK, particularly the Cotswolds and the Lake District, often capturing their journeys through photography – a passion he has nurtured since the age of seven.
Music is another lifelong interest, and in his spare time, Alan practises the piano.
Alan previously supported a range of charitable projects, from hosting international scholars to supporting malaria prevention in Africa, approaching each endeavour with the same dedication he brings to his work.
Helping clients save tax, achieve their goals, and solve problems – even the most complex ones – is what makes the work I do truly rewarding.
People who have built a business from scratch, professionals, owners planning to sell their business, people planning for retirement and those looking to leave a legacy.
One of the achievements Alan is most proud of came from supporting a long-standing client whose financial arrangements had previously been under-optimised, ultimately delivering ten years of tax-free income.
See how this was achievedIn another case, a client had agreed to purchase a nursing home and exchanged contracts before securing full bank finance, leaving a significant funding gap they were not in a position to cover.
See how this was achievedDuring a company merger, one client initially believed they would be entitled to just 33% of the shares, until Alan provided strategic guidance and negotiation support to address the imbalance.
See how this was achievedIn a complex business sale involving the Romany family, Alan secured a significantly higher valuation than initially anticipated, strengthening the client’s overall exit position and longer-term financial outcome.
